1. The service and fees
Online photographic authentication costs $100; physical/in-person authentication costs $300. Both include a dated written report identifying the submitted watch or images, evidence reviewed, examination scope, findings, limitations and conclusion. This is an independent professional opinion, not manufacturer certification, an appraisal, a title search or a guarantee of resale eligibility. Tax, approved shipping, the optional Watch Concierge Kit and additional work are separately quoted.
2. Photographic examination
We examine supplied front, back, side/crown and identifying-detail photographs, reference information and available documentation for visible consistency and discrepancies. Photographs cannot reliably reveal concealed components, altered serials, convincing replacement parts, image manipulation or a different watch later supplied by a seller. Physical testing, case opening and movement verification are excluded. The report may be inconclusive or recommend physical examination.
3. Physical examination
At an agreed appointment or approved mail-in intake, we document condition and identifiers and examine the case, dial, hands, crown, bracelet/strap and markings. With prior permission and when safe, we open the case and examine the accessible movement, caliber and markings. The report lists what was and was not inspected. Full disassembly, destructive tests, material assays, archive fees, pressure testing, valuation and repair require a separate agreement. If opening is unsafe, we explain the limitation and agree whether to proceed before earning the full examination fee.
4. Evidence and conclusions
A report may find evidence consistent with the stated identity, identify inconsistencies or known replacement components, or remain inconclusive. Genuine and replacement parts can coexist. Some alterations cannot be detected within the agreed scope. A historical serial date alone proves neither authenticity nor originality. Findings apply to the evidence and condition examined; later swaps, repair or damage can invalidate them. The report is not a transferable manufacturer warranty.
5. Pre-purchase options
Buyers may request a photo review before purchase or a physical examination with the seller’s permission. Supply the listing, claimed reference, available photos and return or decision deadline. Confirm timing with us first and independently preserve seller/platform return rights. We do not hold purchase funds, offer escrow, guarantee a seller, recover stolen watches or assure a refund. A photo review cannot prove the seller will deliver the pictured watch. Physical intake and ownership authorization are agreed before any seller ships.
6. Intake and timing
Identify the brand/reference, known modifications, ownership or seller authority and purpose of review. Supply clear, unedited photos you are authorized to share; do not open a case yourself. We may request more evidence before accepting the job. We confirm scope, fee and timing in writing. Submission is free and authorizes no shipment or charge. Payment does not promise a particular conclusion.
7. Cancellation and correction
Payment follows the approved arrangement and verified invoice flow. Before work starts, cancellation carries no authentication service charge; separately approved costs may remain. If work stops partway, we charge only authorized work actually performed and refund unearned amounts. A properly completed report is not refundable solely because the conclusion is unfavorable or inconclusive within the agreed scope. For a material failure to perform the agreed examination or report, contact us for correction, re-performance or an appropriate refund, without limiting legal remedies. A later physical examination is separately priced at $300 unless a written credit is agreed.
8. Reliance and responsibility
The report is for the named customer and stated purpose. Share only the complete report with limitations; do not present it as a guarantee or manufacturer approval. No third-party reliance right is created except where law requires. We use reasonable professional care. The Service Terms’ lawful financial limits and exceptions apply; they do not exclude fraud, gross negligence, willful misconduct, mandatory consumer remedies or liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Disclaimers do not excuse failure to perform the agreed scope.
9. Privacy and acceptance
The Service Terms and Privacy Policy also apply; these terms control authentication scope and fees where more specific. We record separate acceptance of version 2026-10-16.1. We do not publish photos or serials for promotion without separate permission. Questions and report-correction requests: [email protected].
